Presentation Books & Family Tree Charts
Knowing your family history is not the end of the journey. Now you need to share your ancestors' story with others. As part of my routine reporting to you when you commission a research project from me, you will receive a Family History report. This is a computer-generated narrative report which details every fact I have discovered about each of your ancestors. This, together with the family tree charts I routinely provide may be sufficient for your needs (see the Research page for more information about my standard research reports).
However, if you want something more special, my earlier experience as a professional editor and publisher enables me to develop the information I have researched for you into an attractive book which you will be proud to own and show to your family.
Please note that I am only able to write reports about research that I have conducted or checked myself (when necessary, with the assistance of trusted professional colleagues).
~ Reports & Books
Your family history book can be as simple or elaborate as you would like it to be, to suit your requirements and your budget.
The simplest format is the Presentation Family History. It incorporates a structured Family History report to provide a detailed individual biography about each family member arranged in a logical sequence, with full source citations for every fact. This is prefaced with an authored overview describing the family across the generations, highlighting key events, and illustrated with some of the source documents used. This style can be used for single or multi-line histories.
At the other end of the spectrum is the Family Folios Heirloom Family History, which not only tells the story of one of your ancestral lines (such as one surname) in as much detail as possible but also aims to put their activities into historical context. The narrative is entirely personally authored. Where possible, contemporary accounts will be included to bring the story to life, and the volume (typically 150-200 pages) will be illustrated throughout with relevant maps, drawings, photographs and family tree charts, as well as images of the original source documents.
This style is suitable for single-line histories only.
If you have a collection of interesting family documents or old family photographs, I can enhance a selection of them for inclusion in your book. You may wish to incorporate photos of medals or other inherited objects which have a family story attached. To complete the project, information about the modern generations of your family, supplied by you, can also be added ~ if necessary, further research can be undertaken to verify and supplement this area of the tree.
Printing & binding ~ Digital printing has made it realistic to have even a single copy of a report printed in colour and bound as a hardback book.
If desired, even more luxurious binding options are available, such as traditional thread-sewn case binding in library buckram or leather.
For single copies I can also print in-house on standard domestic laserprinter. I print on quality paper stock (meeting the ISO 9706 standard for permanent paper). These copies are supplied in a presentation binder with soft leather effect cover and acid-free inner leaves.
See Prices & Ordering to get an idea of costs.
~ Family Tree Charts
The perfect accompaniment to a family history book is a professionally printed banner-size drop-line chart showing the entire family tree. Alternatively, you may prefer to have a smaller-size chart suitable for framing. Either of these make a lovely gift for family members, and it is possible to order as many additional copies as you would like.
Costs depend on the complexity of the family, the dimensions of the finished chart and the paper or canvas used.

If you are planning to visit the places of special significance to your family's history, I can prepare a location-focussed report which will help you to find the places where your ancestors lived and place them in context in your family story. Detailed contemporary maps and modern directions will help you find your way to the streets where your ancestors lived, the churches where they were married or the graveyards where they are buried.

Dear Angela, The Family Tree arrived today, my dad was absolutely amazed ... I will never be able to thank you enough, for all your hard work and the final product is outstanding, the quality is brilliant. Its more than just a family tree, its my dads family history which he knew so little about but this has meant so much more than words can describe. You did an amazing job, thank you so very much.

The whole package was of the highest quality, from the actual portfolio in which it was provided, to the detailed trees, the economic, social and historical background that provided context for my ancestors, plus of course the information about my family in particular. It was far more detailed than I anticipated; it confirmed some information that I already knew but also revealed some unexpected surprises!

My family history has been brought to life. People/places I had no knowledge of and yet felt a sense of connection with have surfaced. Angela takes great pride in her work, she listened to what I wanted and exceeded all expectation in the final project. Angela has a beautiful writing style and is able to deal with and report on old family secrets in a kind and sensitive manner. Angela offers a bespoke service as opposed to a set menu of options only, which proved invaluable for my particular circumstances. In fact this is one of the best things that I have ever purchased and is up there in my top 3 along with my first car and my wedding dress!

Angela, I have today received the book, CD and family tree in relation to the work you have done on tracing my wife’s paternal ancestry. I must say that the quality of the presentation and the way in which you have included so many related facts that I never imagined would be available has certainly exceeded my expectations - and all so professionally tied together. ...This will make a great present for my wife who I’m sure will be both delighted and fascinated by the work, as will her family. With many thanks and kind regards.
